"To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing."
Martin Luther

October 31.
To most it is simply Halloween.  A day filled with costumes and candy.

October 31, 1517, Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church containing his objections to the selling of indulgences and other abuses of the Church.

So as you dress as heros and villians collecting candy, remember the fathers of the Reformation. True heros of the faith. Bold, daring, men of God who risked their life to set right the principles and teachings of the church.

Happy Reformation Day!

Cowboys and Antiques

How do you antique shop with a three year old where lots of breakable items are squeezed in to a not so big space?

Chalkboard!

I love the front of the register counter at a new shop in town.  Perfect spot to keep the kiddo's attention while momma browse.  The register was also placed furthest away from the front door, and the shop was small enough I could keep my eye on him while I browsed the lovely selection.

Well played, shop-owner, well played!

Burlap Fall Wreath

Wreaths.

I am fascinated by them.

I love the idea of making the front door welcoming and decorated for the season.  Take a look at my pinterest collection of wreaths.  I hope to be able to make a few of those someday. Hmm, when is someday?  I hope it gets here soon.  In the meantime, I'd like to share one of the burlap wreaths I made last year.

I do not have pictures of the process, but it was fast and easy.  I used wire from my home improvement center and approximately one yard of fabric per wreath.  The cost was about $5 per wreath.  I gave most of them away to family and friends for Christmas, but saved two for my own use. :) I just adore them!

Tummy Trouble

Malrotation.

You’ve most likely never heard of the word.

We did not hear of malrotation until our first-born son was in kindergarten.

Looking back, he was not often sick as a baby.  He had his bouts with ear infections.  He spit up a lot.  He was “colicky” at times.  There were a few nights I doubted my mothering skills when he would scream for thirty minutes, but the doctor reassured me it was just “night terrors.”

Have Compassion

One more child sponsored.

We have chosen to sponsor a child from Indonesia through Compassion.  There are many reasons why we have chosen to do this. Let me list a few:

1. This little boy needs us.

2. We need him.

We need the daily reminder to focus on others.  His picture is posted in our kitchen where we see his sweet face often and are reminded to pray for him.

Photo Fun & Reality Check

My fabulous friend, Beth, of Lizzie Bee Photography flew to our neck of the woods last week for a fun-filled weekend of photo shoots and catching up.  This is her third year visiting us in the fall to take family photos for Christmas cards.  After stressing out the previous two years to try to find the “perfect” location, I decided to take them at our home this year. I am so glad we did! We get to capture the beauty and imperfection of what we call "home." Here is a sample Beth posted on Facebook.

The Colors of Fall

Ahh, the temperatures are cooling, leaves are changing colors, everything is pumpkin flavored...fall has arrived.

Mums, grass and a few weeds :)
